WASHINGTON -- First game back from a long road trip. Early season, midweek matchup against an opponent that doesnt exactly fire up the masses. The conditions combined to create a low-energy performance from the Washington Capitals, and thats exactly what it was at times Tuesday night. Nevertheless, they rallied when it mattered. Mikhail Grabovskis 100th NHL goal tied the game with 1:45 remaining in regulation, and Alex Ovechkin put in a rebound 1:34 into overtime for a 4-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. "I think maybe we were a little tired. Maybe the trip caught up to us a bit," Washington coach Adam Oates said. "We played better early than I thought we were going to, and then I think it just showed itself. ... A little frustrating at times because we had easier plays than we were making, which is maybe mental fatigue. But obviously to figure out a way to get it done is still a good thing as well." Ovechkins 14th goal of the season and franchise-best 13th career overtime goal capped a game that included a pair of short-handed scores and third-period comebacks by both teams. Joel Ward gave the Capitals a 2-1 lead, then Jared Boll and Cam Atkinson scored less than three minutes apart to put the Blue Jackets in front, then Grabovski pounced on a loose puck to send the game to overtime. "Tonight was one of those games that we know we should have won this game," Washington defenceman Karl Alzner said. "The fact that we went down like that, I think really upset us and lit enough of a fire for us to get back and build the confidence." John Carlson also scored for the Capitals, who returned home after losing at pair at Phoenix and Colorado. They have won five of seven overall and five straight at the Verizon Center. Braden Holtby made 24 saves. Brandon Dubinsky had a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets, who have dropped six of seven. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 30 shots. "We had opportunities on the power play, and our power play was slow," Columbus coach Todd Richards said. "I dont think it was dangerous at all. ... We had a lead with three minutes to go in the game and a chance to get two points against a divisional team. Right now its really a disappointing, deflating feeling just because of how it ended." The normally energetic Capitals fans had trouble generating their usual frenzy for their new rival from the Metropolitan Division. A subdued first period -- no goals, no penalties, few decent scoring chances -- gave way to some more interesting action in the second, when the Blue Jackets caught the Capitals sleepwalking through a power play. Dubinsky outhustled Troy Brouwer to the puck behind Washingtons net and was unchallenged as he skated in front and backhanded an easy shot past Holtby for a short-handed goal. The main credit for Carlsons goal goes to Martin Erat, who persevered to reach around a defender and slide the puck to the defenceman. Carlson crashed into net while celebrating his fourth goal of the season. The game came alive in the third when Ward got his ninth goal, surpassing his total from last season, while the Capitals were short-handed. Bobrovsky went behind the net to play the puck, but had it hop past his stick and straight to Ward, who scored into an empty net from the right circle. Boll was upended into a near-cartwheel after his redirect of James Wisniewskis shot with 8:38 to play for his first goal of the season, then Atkinson gave the Blue Jackets the lead on a breakaway with 5:41 remaining. NOTES: Dubinsky has two goals and five assists in four games. ... Columbus F Nick Foligno remains away from the team for personal reasons. ... Erat has scored more points (57) against Columbus than any other team. Shareece Wright 49ers Jersey . The Wizards announced Friday that Webster had surgery to repair a herniated disc in his lower back. The operation was performed Thursday in Los Angeles. Michael Wilhoite 49ers Jersey . Right-hander Todd Redmond took the loss. Jose Bautista hit his second home run of the spring. Here are a handful of tidbits from around camp: Hutchison impressive The Blue Jays are being cautious when talking about their young arms but internally, excitement is building over the way Drew Hutchison is looking and performing this spring. http://www.officialauthenticsf49ersonline.com/AUTHENTIC-JARRYD-HAYNE-49ERS-JERSEY/. -- Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday for the first time in his seven-year career because of a swollen muscle in his left upper back. Steve Young 49ers Jersey . Brazilian striker Brandao opened the scoring with a header in the 55th minute before winger Franck Tabanou volleyed home from close range to double the lead in the 61st. Darnell Dockett 49ers Jersey . The struggling New Orleans Pelicans were simply overmatched. Crawford hit seven 3s on his way to 24 points, and the Clippers beat the Pelicans 123-110 on Monday night. "We understand what we do well. If we all do what we do well, well make our team stronger," Crawford said.Los Angeles Kings 3, Winnipeg Jets 1 (Jets 30-27-7, home 15-12-5) - The win makes it six straight for the Kings since the Olympic break, a team that won once in 10 games before the break. The loss drops the Jets to three points back of Dallas for the final spot in the Western Conference. No scoring in the first period but it was a good start for the Jets, who jumped out to a 6-2 lead on the shots clock, but helped by a power play the Kings started to take the game over and outshot the Jets 11-7. Through part of the first and into the second the Jets went 17:52 without a shot on goal, but Olli Jokinens 15th of the year put the Jets in front 1-0. Good hustle by Evander Kane set up the goal, with Mark Stuart also drawing an assist. It was the third straight game the Jets have scored first, Jokinen opening the scoring in Nashville, Andrew Ladd opening the scoring against the Islanders. But the lead only lasted 42 seconds before Dustin Brown, in tight on Ondrej Pavelec, tied the game. Mike Richards picked off a cross ice pass and wired one past Pavelec at 16:15 to give the Kings the lead. Kings are 18-0 this season when leading after two. Shots in the second were 10-6, Los Angeles. In the third, the Kings showed why they need to be considered one of the power houses in the Western Conference. Kings outshot the Jets 20-5 in the third, and if not for Pavelec, the Kings would have skated their way to a route. Pavelec made one outstanding save after another and not until a power play goal by Alec Martinez at 15:51 was the game put away. Final shots were 41-18. It was the first time in five games this year Pavelec has lost when facing 40 or more shots.dddddddddddd Pavelec was the games first star. In total the Kings directed 78 shots at the Jets net, with 23 blocked and 14 missing the net. Kings are now 19-0 when leading after two. Kane led the Jets with seven shots on goal, Zach Bogosian in ice time at 24:19, Mark Stuart blocked seven shots, Jim Slater won eight of nine face-offs and has now won 15 of 16 over the past two games, Bryan Little won 10 of 16. Dustin Byfuglien led in hits with five, including a first period hit on Jake Muzzin that put the Kings defenceman into the Jets bench. Coach Paul Maurice had this to say post game. "I liked the speed of the game that we started the game with. Then we ran into the LA Kings at their best. They will take your game and frustrate you to the point that you would start to change what youre trying to do, because theres nothing given easily. We started to do things without your feet moving and you cant do that against them. I was left with the thought there are two kinds of confidence in hockey, and its individual confidence in a player that comes and goes at times. Second a style of play to handle these games. We needed to hold the lead longer than we did. Its dangerous to evaluate your offensive game against that team." On the loss, "The fact you are chasing hurts more when you lose." Jets play Ottawa Saturday afternoon (TSN 1290) at MTS Centre, then head to Colorado for a game Monday. Its a single trip before they return home for three - against Vancouver, the Rangers and Dallas.
