According to the Civilian Administrator of the area, the incident took place when two teams of boys aged between 14 to 18 years were playing a friendly match of volleyball in the Khada Bazar area of Lower Orakzai, one of Pakistan's seven northwestern restive tribal regions.

The official said the explosives were fixed in the ground by some unknown militants before the match started and it was detonated with a remote-controlled device.

Earlier reports said the blast took place during a football match.

At the time of blast, around 200 spectators were also present in the ground to watch the match.

Security forces and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the hospital.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
